The IASD is a non-profit, international, multidisciplinary organization dedicated to the pure and applied investigation of dreams and dreaming. Its purposes are to promote an awareness and appreciation of dreams in both professional and public arenas; to encourage research into the nature, function, and significance of dreaming; to advance the application of the study of dreams; and to provide a forum for the eclectic and interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and information. Our membership consists of a broad spectrum of individuals with serious interests in dreams and includes those who study dreams professionally and those who make a personal study of dreams. Members engage in a wide range of dream-related activities, including academic research, clinical practice, and incorporation of dreams into literature and art, and individual study. A variety of disciplines is represented among those who study dreams professionally: anthropology, comparative literature, education, fine arts, history, language studies, medicine,
nursing, psychology, religion and spirituality, and social work.
